With Golf Cart Freedom Comes Safety Responsibility

A June 8, 2015 article in the Villages-News reports that the Florida golf cart friendly community, The Villages, has experienced 13 golf cart related deaths within the past seven years. The Sumter County Sheriff's Office recently presented information on golf cart safety to residents of the community, urging them to take appropriate steps towards golf cart safety. Interest levels were peaked, as residents were still shaken up from a serious golf cart accident that occurred earlier in the week. The Sumter Sheriff's Office recommended the following:

• Install and use seat belts.
• Install and use head and tail lights.
• Drive slowly.
• Do not drive when intoxicated.
